You aren’t too sensitive, you just need tools

Hi Reader!

This Sunday as my family was wrapping up our weekly Zoom call, my Dad asked me about the “rejection” I received that I had referred to on my social media.

So I went on to tell him that I got my first film festival rejection … and while it wasn’t completely a surprise, it did hit me a lot harder than I thought.

It actually took me a good 3-4 days to fully process the sadness. If you are curious about my process, you can read more about it on Substack here.

After I shared this, I made some mention about how sensitive I am and how I’m finally starting to really understand how to work that energy (I’m 48, pls don’t tell IMDB 😉) and my Dad laughed out loud.

I kind of gave him a death stare, and then he went on to explain …

yeah, you always took things a lot harder than everyone else.

But here’s what really gets me … even though he knew this about me, he wasn’t really able to help me.

I remember going to therapy once in middle or high school (it might have been for one session), but there was no diagnosis of HSP (highly sensitive person) or teaching of tools to help me regulate my emotions.

Instead, I was accidentally trained to believe that I was a little too much, especially in the sensitivity department, which made me feel like I needed to hide and censor my feelings.

Meanwhile, I was like a hot-rod for other people’s emotions. I was always taking on other’s people’s emotions and trying to make sure other people were okay too.

Can you relate?

If so, you might be a highly sensitive person or an empath, and it is highly likely that you could benefit from Energy Work.

This was the thing that helped me unravel this life long pattern of feeling "too much" and not knowing what to do with it.

Now I process my emotions so much quicker, and when they do bog me down, at least I know there isn't anything wrong with me and I don't have anything to fix.

If you haven’t yet heard me tell my story about how I discovered Energy Work and how it transformed my relationship with my emotional life, my career, and so much more, you should definitely check out the second episode of The Embodied Way Podcast: From Hashimoto’s Disease to Embodiment Coach.

Well, Reader, I did it! The Spark officially premiered on Saturday October 10th in the 10pm block. The fact that it was 10-10 at 10 is not lost on me. (If you aren’t familiar with numerology, that’s simultaneous a bunch of ‘1’s, which symbolize new beginnings, ‘111’, an angel number, and a ‘3’, when you add the ones, which is all about creativity. ) This moment was divinely guided every step of the way. I wasn’t as ready for my premiere as I thought - turns out that talking about my former...

Hi Reader, If there is one thing I’ve learned from my 6 years as an Embodiment Coach, it’s that momentum and success tend to feel a little elusive. When things are working, they are really working and we often don’t have the first idea how we got there. And when things aren’t working, we just seem to feel more stuck, no matter what we may try to do in order to change our circumstances. And so what do we do? We try harder, exhaust ourselves, and beat ourselves up for not doing enough, all at...
